Ninjutsu Training: Using The Elements Of The TenChiJin | Ninja Martial Arts Techniques (Ninpo)

In this video, I teach how to use the natural elements of the TenChiJin (天地人) towards your advantage when studying the ancient ninja martial arts of ninjutsu (忍術).  In Ninpo (忍法), we study the Godai (五大), Gogyo (五行) as well as all areas of the TenChiJin Ryaku-no-Maki. Understanding the use all of the natural elements is crucial within the study of ninjutsu. When used correctly, you become a much stronger than anything your opponent can possibly imagine.

Inpo no Godai (陰法の五大)

Tomo Ryu Grandmaster

Images above were taken at a place near the Budo Ryu Hombu Dojo where I go to meditate & reflect.
There are five actions in life that you cannot recover from.  Each of these five actions is relative towards the negative aspects of the Godai called Inpo (陰法).
.
The Godai (五大) which is the embodiment of the 5 sacred elements of the universe are: Earth (地), Wind (風), Water (水), Fire (火) and Void (空) and are comprised of 2 main sections of understanding; Hipo (陽法; also called Youpo) which are the positive and heavenly methods and understandings and Inpo (陰法) which are the negative or dark methods and understandings.  There are five actions in life that you cannot recover from taken from the Inpo teachings of the Godai :
.
1) A word after it is said. (Earth; 地)
2) A moment after it is missed. (Wind; 風)
3) The brush once you place it on the paper. (Water; 水)
4) The sword once it is drawn. (Fire; 火)
5) Time after it is gone. (Void; 空)
.
Understand this lesson that is giving to us from the Godai and hold yourself as any shinobi samurai would with honor and respect.
.
Do not fall victim to mental frustration and say things that you will regret.
Do not push those away that are the most meaningful in your life.
Have a plan and understand what you are doing before you do it.
Do not act out of anger or hate, both lead to internal suffering.
Do not take your last breath and wish that you would done something else with it.
.
I hope that you all enjoy today’s lesson.
I wish you all good  luck in your journey.

Anshu Christa Jacobson – Understanding the Fire Element

10.27.2010 – Kuden Lesson

Understanding the Element of Fire

*****************************

During my meditation today I thought about the element of fire. Fire is a very aggresive element and if you have no control, it will eventually consume you.

* WATER – is a healing element, it is cool and soothing, it adopts to its surroundings with peace.

* EARTH – is strong and steady, it is confident and will not move, not even in the moment of destruction.

* WIND – is circular and soft, it gains power through constant motion, yet you cannot grasp it or see it.

* FIRE – is alive, a rock cannot move all by itself, yet a fire can spread and take out a whole city and everything in its path.

If you CAN control fire, it is just like the sun, the greatest source of energy and complete balance with nature. This control of fire comes from breathing, this is why it is very important to practice correct breathing.

No matter what element that you are training in, we are all of these elements at different times in the day and in different relationships with different people. Understanding this, is the understanding of “Ku” or void.

To learn any discipline, you have to have discipline first.

IT SADDENS ME TO SAY THIS, I once had a student that had to interest in learning discipline, although I tried to teach discipline and control, his only concern was with sparring and beating up his opponents using the fire element.

What he did not understand is that fire is a horrible element to have control of your life. Fire needs to be used only when needed,… fire in nature is to consume and without control it destroys everything around it. Without this understanding of the fire element, you risk loosing everything around you.

With the people that are consumed by the fire element in all areas of life,…fire brings destruction and pain. It forces the individual to have to walk a thin line of humanity and savagery.

As a martial artist we need to learn to use all of the elements at the right time and the right places in our lives, this balance of the elements will bring us happiness, control, a body as strong as any warrior, clarity of mind and peace.

I hope that today’s lesson to my students can help anyone that reads it. I wish you all well.

Take care, Be safe and good luck in your Journey of Budo.
