The Way (道)
Anshu Christa Jacobson teaching Tenjin-ryu Jujutsu Buke Waza (天神流柔術 武家技) at the Budo Ryu Hombu Dojo (武道流本部道場)
(Transcription)
“There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But in doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking, this understanding extends to everything.” – Yamamoto Tsunetomo; 1659-1719
(Translation)
If you are going to create art, their will be times that you spill the ink. If you are going to model, there are times that people do not look at the art. If you are going to farm the land, there are times that your crops don’t grow. If you are going to train in samurai bujutsu and authentic ninjutsu; there are times that you are going to be hurt.
If you are trying to find your way, there are times, as you are walking it will rain and you will be wet. You cannot learn without making mistakes, accept it, you are training in warrior arts, keep walking forward and the rain will stop sooner or later, and at that time, you will find your way.
I hope that you understand today’s lesson and can see my interpretation of this wonderful classic text on samurai bujutsu.
Thank you all for your support!
Take care, be safe and good luck in your journey of Budo.

Koka Ryu Kempo – Sankei (Three Tools) 甲賀流拳法 – 三 形 – 拳法, 空手
This is some of the video footage from our Koka-ryu Kempo Sankei Workshop 2012
In the training of this event we looked at the Koka-ryu Sankei; which translates out as “three tools” and are three specific weapons used in Kempo, to help train the body. These three weapons are the Kama (sickle), Tanto (knife) and Tonbo (short stick). This is not just for the knowledge and application of the weapon, but to help train the budoka’s taijutsu for better empty hand kempo application as well.
Koka-ryu Kempo is one of the 7 Warrior Traditions of the Budo Ryu; School of the Warrior Way as the training goes in depth within the 7 traditions of the Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo!
The Budo Ryu is dedicated to teaching traditional samurai bujutsu and authentic ninjutsu. To do this the Budo Ryu has 7 Warrior Traditions that it teaches from:
7 WARRIOR TRADITIONS OF THE SCHOOL:
* Koka Ryu Kempo (甲賀流拳法)
* Tenjin Ryū Jujutsu (天神流柔術)
* Tomo Ryu Shinobijutsu (戸猛流忍術)
* Musō Jikiden Eishin-ryū (英信流居合術)
* Koto Ryu Koppojutsu (虎倒流骨法術)
* Gyokko-Ryū Kosshijutsu (玉虎流骨指術)
* Togakure-ryū Ninpo Taijutsu (戸隠流忍法体術)
I hope that you enjoy the video! Thank you all for your support!
