Budo Ryu Update (2.3.2014)

How are all of you today!

☯ According to my horoscope it says: ★★★★★ [Aquarius] Today there is a tremendous amount of power at my disposal & I should use it wisely. I have the ability to make an extremely strong impression on people today, so think before I act. This energy can manifest as an accident or something unhealthy if not used properly. ★★★★★ I have lots to do today, so I am in hopes that my output energy can match the positive energy of the stars, sun & moon!

☯ I have made many videos that are being uploaded for all of you on YouTube this week. So keep up with the YouTube channel because there is going to be a lot going on! Please share, like, and post some good comments for us on YouTube! Thank you!

☯ Mr. Chafin made a jujutsu video, and I wanted to share it with all of you! If you can like it, and share it on your pages that would be great! Here is his video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgkpUmSAweA

☯ [personal note] I want to say I am proud of the Denver Broncos. Even though we got our asses kicked in the Super Bowl, we had a hell of a great year. The current team that is present, is all signed under contract to play through 2016 (including Manning), so this is just another step in the journey. In 2013 we were the #1 seed in the AFC & lost in the first round to the Baltimore Raves (they won the Super Bowl that year). This year, 2014 we were the #1 seed in the AFC & lost in the Super Bowl. I like to look at the positive, and see that the last 2 years that we have had Peyton Manning we have gotten better each year. Next year will be our year! Keep your head up boys!

☯ Finally I want to say:
Treat others like you want to be treated…
Many people will tell you that I am a bad teacher & a bad role model because of some of the things that I do, like: nude modeling, escort, erotic dance, etc, etc…. I clearly disagree. Maybe I do not live a conservative lifestyle, but what I do, I do with a honor and respect. I do not treat anyone bad, and I expect that same respect in return. You have never seen me make hateful posts on peoples page, attacking others online, and as your teacher I am saying that you should do the same and follow that action.

I am human, and I understand that there are going to be times for arguments and heated words. When that happens, you need to do it in private, in email, Skype, whatever, but make sure that it is between you and that person, not you and the world. Nothing wrong with heated words and defending yourself, but do it in an adult and responsible manner in a private conversation.

Making fun of people while they are down and upset is childish and hateful. I would hope that the students & supporters are a little more mature and can understand when I say,… treat others like you want to be treated… because Karma is only a bitch of you are, remember that…

Thank you for all of your love and support!
Love Y’all! XXOO – Christa

STOP THE HATE!

1555345_686072604770663_1419695819_n

STOP THE HATE!

I get people all of the time hating on me just because I am transgender. They make fun of me and belittle me as a woman.

They call me “He” or “Him”, instead of “She” or “Her”.
They even go as far as to say “Chris”, instead of “Christa”, even though my name is Christa.

I am a strong, proud, transgender woman that lives her life to be happy. I am not living my life in the image of what others feel I should be. I am living my life to the fullest, as I feel I should.

If you are hating on me and slandering me, don’t be upset if I do not acknowledge you as I walk by, happy and successful in everything that I do.

If you support me and love me, you will have a friend forever.

Changing you life…

If you want something different in your life,
You gotta do something different with your life…

Self Empowerment – Anshu Christa Jacobson

Budo Ryu Hombu Dojo

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor and catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”- Mark Twain; 1835-1910

I love this quote, and it is how I live my life. Many times I get emails from people that are not students of the Budo Ryu that ask questions like; what does your students think about training with a woman? What do they think about your modeling and nude art? It is like you can feel that they want to make sure that they “fit in” or “agree on” the same things as the people here in the dojo. My only question to them is why? What do you think? That is all that matters.

I think they (my students here) see me more like another mom; you know? Honestly I think that they would all tell you that they do not think about any of those things because they never come up in training.

I know the world sees the modeling, the makeup, artistic nude photography, etc, etc. But I just be myself; not trying to impress anyone, just teach the arts in the hombu. I tell all of my kids, they need to live their life to be happy. Happiness is different for us all. They know that I love modeling, fashion, poetry, brush art, sports as well as artistic nude modeling / photography; it is part of who I am and what makes me happy. So they accept my hippie ass as part of who I am just as I accept all of what they do to make themselves happy as part of which they are. This too is a major lesson in budo, acceptance. Accept the fact that people are different, and even if they are not like you, accept that you cannot change that, and love them for who they are, not hate them for who they are not.

All of us look for self-empowerment, to be able to stand up and live our life the way that we want to be happy, but to do this you have to stay away from the things and people that are tearing you down and belittling your ambitions. Small people try to do that, but the really great ones are the ones that want to help you become what it is that you aspire to be, so do not surround yourself with people that are trying to tear you down, these people who are saying that it cannot be done, should not interrupt the ones that are doing it. Today live your life, don’t just be alive. There is a difference.

Thank you all for your support.

Take Care, Be Safe and Good Luck in your Journey of Budo.

Happiness In Life

Happiness in Life

After class at the Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Hombu.

Yesterday’s classes at the Hombu Dojo made me realize how lucky I am to be able to do what I love to do everyday and make a living at it. I mean that is everyone’s dream isn’t it? To be able to do what you love to do, express who you are to the world and make a living doing it? The unfortunate thing is that not many get this opportunity or maybe,… not many are willing to take the chance.

It was said once by Confucius “Choose a job that you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”. He was right. I get the pleasure of everyday waking up and spending the rest of the day dedicated to the authentic ninjutsu and traditional samurai bujutsu and help teach the martial arts to the students of the Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo.

Sure; there is work that has to be done; we make video downloads, shinobi no mono magazine, DVD’s for the Ninjutsu Super Store, and uploads and updates to the Budo Ryu Online Dojo as well as keeping in contact with all of our students and supports with our myspace page, facebook page and youtube channel. The greatest part that I find with what I do is that I never get frustrated at all because of what I am doing, I always feel like I want to do more than what I have; and to me that is a good thing!

You only have one life to live, live it to be happy, and don’t be scared to be yourself, that is what is going to really make you happy. Happiness starts within and then it is expressed outward. Just like art.

Shinobi Mumon no Ikkan – The Gateless Gate

The Gateless Gate

Soke Tomo-ryu; Anshu Christa Jacobson

“The great way has no gate;
There are a thousand different roads.
If you pass through this barrier once,
You will walk independently in the universe.”

The Gateless Gate (無門關)

The gateless gate is regarded as the greatest book of zen ever complied. It is a collection of 48 Chan (Zen) koans compiled in the early 13th century by the Chinese Zen master Wumen Hui-k’ai (無門慧開; 1183–1260).

This book was so profound even during the Sengoku Jidai (戦国時代); Samurai (侍)and Shinobi (忍び) families were reading these words as an aid towards enlightenment. In the Shoninki written by Natori Masatake of the Kishu-ryu school of Ninjutsu he writes:

“One of the most important things for you to do is always know everything you can of every place or province that is possible to know. When you are in that said province, be sure to read the feeling of the local people and do what is necessary according to the situation. If your mind is in total accordance with the “way” and understands reasoning and logic perfectly, than you can pass through the mumon no ikkan (The Gateless Gate; 無門關) “checkpoint”. This is a mental place that is barrier without a gateway that exist inside your mind. You will be able to pass through this mental stage because you will have a clear mind and reasonable thinking due to your training.” — Natori Masatake; Kishu-ryu; Shoninki

Anshu Christa Jacobson – Purpose of the Martial Arts

Soke Christa Jacobson

Soke; Anshu Christa Jacobson

PURPOSE OF THE MARTIAL ARTS
(Taken from the upcoming book from the Budo Ryu Kai)

To understand the purpose of the martial arts training we have to understand the goal towards training; Self-Enlightenment, Self-Empowerment, Self-Defense and Self- Protection of oneself and loved ones.

I was once told of an old story of these two master swords man who were closer than brothers. They both mastered the way of the sword, and prepared to start their journey of Musha Shugyo (武者修行). They were going to be separate for many years. So they met one day on the opposite side of this creek, and they agreed that they would re-unite at the same place, at the same date, twelve years later.

Twelve years later, at that date they found that the rain and the course of nature had changed that creek to a large raging water stream so there is no way that they can meet at the exact same place. As one of the samurai determined to live up to his vow and to show his incredible level of skill that he amassed over the twelve years. He took a running jump and leaped over the deadly current of the rushing water, safely on the other side. The other samurai walked upstream and hired a boatman to get row him across safely to meet his close friend.

The skills that one man spent 12 years of training and refining was duplicated effortlessly with a few pennies. Similarly if your goal is only to “win” or “kill”, than we can just buy a gun rather than investing years of training. This is why students of Budo need to understand that Budo is not just about winning. Next we need to understand that winning is more than just defeating your enemy, it is about perfecting yourself – your personal character – as well as your skills as a martial artist.

In Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu (英信流居合術); one of the seven warrior traditions of the Budo Ryu, there is a saying: Kachi wa saya no naka ni ari (Victory comes while the sword is still in the scabbard) physical skills alone no matter how highly developed are not enough. There is always someone more skillful or someone with a dirty trick that will leave you unprepared. But attitude is better than aptitude in actual combat.

Without having a strong warrior spirit, courage and determination a high level of skill is useless. So the purpose of training in Budo is to develop the mind and spirit of a warrior and such a strength of character that it wins a battle before it begins. This takes years of training to do. These skills also lead to the ability to rid your self of and not respond to hate, slander, anger, fear, selfishness and jealousy as they are counter productive and self-destructive. Simply put frustration is the first sign of mental weakness. Those that get so frustrated that they have to say and do negative things are clearly mentally weak, and as a warrior and a practitioner of budo, you should not concern yourself with this action as this will also lead you off of true path of Budo.

“Kachi wa saya no naka ni ari”
(Victory comes while the sword is still in the scabbard)

Sunshine,…

Yesterday I went to the park to enjoy the day. It was such a beautiful day, so I figured I would make the best of it and figure out a way for me to get things done while enjoying the sunshine.

********************

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”
Dalai Lama

********************

I had quite a few emails so I decided instead of answering them on the internet (because I hate typing) that I would get the camera and go down to the lake and just answer the emails there.

I was a wonderful time, the emails were great too with many compliments and questions about training with the Budo Ryu I sat there and answered the emails for about 45 mins, till my battery ran down. I will get this video up and published on the website so that you all can see it as well!

(I will warn you the wind was really bad, so some sections you might not hear me that well).

I needed to get work done, but still wanted to enjoy nature and the day. Happiness is what we are all looking for. Do what you can do to make yourself happy, at the end of the day, that is all that we have.

Happiness and love helps you see things clearly, Hate and revenge clouds your vision.

It was said that hate is like a double edge blade, as you cast it on the people around you, you are also cutting yourself with it as well.

Remember that Budo is not about being better than anyone else. It is about being better than what you were yesterday, and if you are not in balance, if you are not happy, you cannot help others become happy.

I hope that this helps you today as well as your training.

Take Care, Be Safe &
Good Luck in your Journey of Budo.

Anshu Christa Jacobson – LIVE YOUR LIFE!

Soke Chrisa Jacobson

Live your Life to be Happy

Photo Taken – 5.31.2011
ANOTHER GREAT DAY!

Here I am working on websites and editing video on the computer! Trying to share with others the martial art that I teach; “Budo Ryu – School of the Warrior Way

It was said that:

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony” – Ghandi

I agree with this quote, and I agree that you have to have balance in the three areas of the sanshin (mind, body and spirit). I love being able to wake up every morning and dedicate myself to the study and teachings of budo; with no restrictions or hold backs. I love to be able to help my students grow in the arts as well as love being able to watch them grow in the arts. I love the fact that I can simply teach marital arts and it provides for myself and my family. I love spending time with my family. I love my life.

Morihei Ueshiba (founder of Aikido) once said “All the principles of heaven and earth are living inside you. Life itself is truth, and this will never change. Everything in heaven and earth breathes. Breath is the thread that ties creation together.”

Live your life to be happy, yes there are obstacles from time to time, but it is up to you to either let these obstacles get to you or not, no one is strong enough to get in your head unless you let them.

Yes life is tough, and yes in the end life is going to win, and your time will be over. But you don’t need to live like it is over now, it is not. If you are reading this page, that means you still have time left, to find happiness.

But time is all that we have, that is all, when our time is up, so are we. So spend your time on this earth to bring you happiness, not darkness. Happiness opens the eyes and actually helps you see more positive things in your daily life. Darkness and hate cloud your vision and makes you only see the negative things in your life.

Life is choice, you can choose to life your life happy, be a good person, practice good moral and ethical manners or not, that choice is up to you.

“Have a good day” 😉

“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.” – Benjamin Franklin
***************************

Every time that this happens I am shocked, but humbled and honored.

If anyone was to tell me in 2004 (when I started the Budo Ryu) that the Budo Ryu would have over 9,000 students; 22 schools all around the world and I would be a recognized name with the art of ninjutsu, I would have laughed and said that you were crazy.

But all of that did happen and I would not have gotten to where I am or my school is without a strong supporting cast and fan base! I owe all of my success to my students and all of the people that support me. There are hundreds of thousands of great masters of the arts all over the world that is teaching the arts,..yet my school keeps growing and growing. And I could not have had any of this success without my wonderful students, strong supporting cast and a strong fan base, thank you all for the support.

I am truly humbled (bow)

*******
Last night I had a friend really have my back, one of those situations where they really stand firm and show the strength of the relationship. He literally went out of his way to have my back and defend me.

While he was fighting / arguing with people about myself and my school he emailed me and told me to “go here” (link) well,..’here’ is not available to me, for some reason or another, I do not have “permission” to go there. I noticed that he was online through instant message, and I asked him to call me, he basically said – No, he was busy, doing what it was that he was doing. I tried to call him, he did not answer. I knew he was defending me about something, but was unsure of why or what was going on. Since he did not answer, I went to bed & thought, here is a friend that is sticking up for me, defending me, against many, he has my back.

Many people have questioned this mans loyalty and honor towards others, saying that he is only out for himself, #1 and that is all. Last night he proved that statement wrong. He proved that he is one of the few that still do the right thing and stand up for what you believe in,….honor.

I was touched to see that someone put them self out like that for me, When things are easy, you can have many friends, but in the face of adversity, when things are really wrong, and just go bad, there are those few that will stand right there with you, those are your real friends.

Helen Keller once said — “Walking with a friend in the dark, is much better than walking alone in the light” these are words that I hope many can understand and also make the same decision to do so.

I do thank all of you for all of the support, without all of you, friends and students, we (budoryu) and myself would not be where it is today!

Thank you very much, I hope that you all have a wonderful day!
