I just watched a video on YouTube where a ninjutsu historian was saying that ninja just wore hakama and bare legs! He claimed he found it in historical scroll!
As many of you know, for years…
& I mean years!
People have bashed me for only wearing a hakama & bare legs when teaching class.
To all of you that want to talk trash about my slutty attire and whore-ish ways. When I walk around the dojo, showing my pretty toes, long lean legs and sexy smile; that is me being a ninja! In fact, it is proven to be in a historical ninjutsu scroll!
Ok, Ok, now time for the lesson.
(lets get serious)
When Kobayashi Sensei was teaching me hensojutsu (変装術), he always said that the ninja would wear what they needed to wear to infiltrate. Sensei said that when training in various disguise (忍び七化け; shinobi nana-bake) this was part of yonin-jutsu (陽忍術).
When sensei was teaching me how to become a shadow (影隠術; kagegakure-jutsu), this was part of innin-jutsu (陰忍術) and this had many different forms and disguise as well. In fact, he said that the shinobi-shozoku (忍び装束) has many different variations, not just the one that everyone talks about (which I will talk about in a future video).
Wearing only a kimono and no bottoms was an acceptable wear during that time in history, so it only makes sense that ninja would use this as a disguise as well.
In my training as an apprentice, I always wore a kimono top & no bottoms for many reasons. However, all of my students, as well as all members of the online dojo, know that this is also proper attire. Many of my videos in the online dojo was shot with me only wearing a kimono top and no bottoms.

Of course we wear shorts under the kimono to keep our ass and other parts covered. No need to have all of that on a dojo floor!

(A) They would wear what they needed to wear.
Sometimes the answer is just that simple.

BUDO RYU – Kodachi 小太刀, Shinobigatana 忍刀, Iaijutsu 居合術
In this training event we looked at the Kodachi (小太刀) or short sword fighting skills from the Tenjin-ryu (天神流) and the Tomo-ryu (戸猛流). We also looked at many of the kata from the Togakure-ryu Shinobigatana (戸隠流忍刀). Towards the end of the training session we looked at various methods of Iaijutsu (居合術) with the Kodachi (小太刀).

2011 BUDO RYU DAIKOMYOUSAI 武道流大光明祭!
DAIKOUMYOSAI (大光明祭) means; celebration of illumination from inside to the outside — The Budo Ryu holds and annual Daikomyosai every year.
Training goes in depth within the 7 traditions of the Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo! Direct teachings of the history of the arts, classical kata as well as the present applications, deeper understandings of these 7 warrior traditions that make up the Budo Ryu – School of the Warrior Way!
The Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo is a school of traditional Japanese fighting arts and has established 22 schools world wide with its headquarters located in Kansas City, Ks.
The B.R.N.D trains in all areas of traditional Japanese bujutsu (old Japanese fighting arts). This includes hand to hand combat, grappling, ground fighting, all traditional weapons of the ninja and samurai, modern weapon applications and tactics, self-defense, self-protection, survival skills as well as mental and emotional conditioning.
7 WARRIOR TRADITIONS OF THE SCHOOL:
* Koka Ryu Kempo (甲賀流拳法)
* Tenjin Ryū Jujutsu (天神流柔術)
* Tomo Ryu Shinobijutsu (戸猛流忍術)

SOME of the Skills that a student will train in are: Seishinteki kyōyō (spiritual refinement) Taijutsu (unarmed combat), Kenjutsu (sword techniques), Bōjutsu (stick and staff techniques), Sōjutsu (spear techniques), Naginatajutsu (naginata techniques), Kusarigamajutsu (kusarigama techniques), Shurikenjutsu (throwing weapons techniques), Kayakujutsu (pyrotechnics), Hensōjutsu (disguise and impersonation), Shinobi-iri (stealth and entering methods), Bajutsu (horsemanship), Sui-ren (water training), Bōryaku (tactics), Chōhō (espionage), Intonjutsu (escaping and concealment), Tenmon (meteorology), Chi-mon (geography), Dakentaijutsu (striking body arts), Kosshijutsu (muscle tearing), Kyushojutsu (vital points), Jujutsu (grappling), Koppojutsu (bone breaking), Yonin, Inpo, Tonpo, Shinobi-iri, Ninjutsu (art of stealth).

Art is the desire of a person express them self, to display and share the reactions of their personality to the world.
In this photo I wanted to use the contrast of the room so that people would look at the arts behind me, yet keeping my body / silhouette directly of the middle of the picture, to help with the “IN / YO” of the photograph.
Just as the screen behind me shows the dramatic difference between tiger and dragon, the photo also shows the contrast between light and dark. This in itself is also a major lesson of ninjutsu.
The screen behind me was painted by Kano Tanyu in the edo period (1602-1674) The piece is called Dragon and Waves; Tiger among the Bamboo.
