Ninja Skin Conditioning (Hands, Feet, Toes) Ninjutsu Training: Junan Taiso, Hojo Undo Techniques

In this video, I discuss the ninja skin conditioning/training of the hands, feet and toes within ninjutsu martial arts.  Remember the ninja was a spy, and body sensitivity was a very important aspect within ninjutsu. The ninja would have to feel around in the darkness to find certain things, do certain things, feel certain things and be aware of certain things. To do this, they would need a high level of sensitivity on the bottoms of their hands, feet and toes.

Do not get skin conditioning mixed up with bone conditioning. Yes, the ninja would train to have effective striking (punching and kicking) within their martial arts training.  But this training goes along “impact conditioning” or “bone conditioning” as the practitioner is training to withstand a higher impact and deliver an effective strike with their hands and feet. Impact conditioning is more along the lines of bone and connective tissue training and has nothing to do with the conditioning of the skin for sensitivity.

Budo Ryu Kai Dojo Discussion | Toughen Up! Train with Intensity! | Ninjutsu Martial Arts Training

In this video, I discuss the importance of training with intensity! If you learn how to be tough, you can have a huge advantage in the world of self-defense. In the world that we live in, there are so many weak ass, pathetic cowards that have only learned how to fight with words and keyboards.  Most of them have a huge Amazon book collections and know their way around a library.  NONE OF THEM can actually fight.  NONE OF THEM will be able to protect themselves in a real fight.  ALL OF THEM RUN THEIR MOUTH & POST CRAP ONLINE.  Why?  Because it makes them feel better about themselves.

In the real world, we have to train with more intensity to be able to withstand any attack that may come our way.  We need to be able to protect ourselves and the ones that we love against all forms of violence.  The only way to do this is to train.  At the end of the day, if you cannot physically do what you need to do, when you need to do it, you will fail. Your life or your loved ones life may depend on your training. So train like it does.

Ninja Flexibility

Every morning I always do 30 min cardio with abdominal & core exercises. This is followed by a various set of kata found within the Nana Musha-den of the Budo Ryu Kai, then I finish with the “focus” of the day.

This mornings workout focused on flexibility, particularly flexibility of the spine. I worked with various poses and kamae to increase my flexibility and balance while opening up the lower back and hips.

Flexibility is an aspect of training that many people neglect. We all develop tight muscles throughout the body and these tight muscles create problems, blockages and stress. If people neglect to work on flexibility, this tends to lead to bigger issues and health concerns.

Remember it’s better to bend than break. As a martial artist we need to focus on all aspects of flexibility. This means developing flexibility physically as well as: mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Anshu Christa Jacobson – Warming Up before Class

 

To start each class you have to start with the correct frame of mind. Start each class knowing that you are there to train your mind, body and spirit as one.  This is a very short clip expressing the start of a class here at the hombu, dedicated to the art of Traditional Samurai Bujutsu and Authentic Ninjutsu.

We start each class with a Bow in, Shiken Haramitsu Daikoumyo (四拳 波羅蜜 大光明) this is the sensation and the harmony perceived by the sense of hearing and heart, to understand this, is to also understand that for every step that I take, I am placing myself one step closer towards my enlightenment.

After the traditional bow in, we then start with kihon (basics) to warm up the body now that we are focused, this video is a short clip of some of the dakentaijutsu drills (striking body drills) that we would do to start the class.
