CONNECT THE DIVINE

CONNECT THE DIVINE | TENCHIJIN
Giving Thanks To The Gods…

I woke up this morning to see that it’s raining. Always remember to thank the divine by getting out and experiencing the beauty of nature. This world was a gift that we get to experience its beauty, if we take the time too. This experience with nature helps us better understand ourselves and connect to the elements and our surroundings.

While it is raining, we get to experience the element of “Sui” (水; water) from the divine, which represents: Emotion, Sexuality, Adaptability, Flexibility, Suppleness, and Magnetism.

Today is also the day of a solar eclipse, which represents: Renewal of Spiritual Energy, Revealing Lies (particularly those that we tell ourselves), Re-thinking our Direction of Action and Refocusing on our Goals in Life.

As the powers of the Sun and the Moon align, I will get to experience the element of “Ku” (空; Void) from the divine, which is associated with: Heavens, Divine, Magick, Sakkijutsu and Invocation.

Remember the renewal of spiritual energy is more than just your inner power, but your magickal tools as well. Make sure that you lay out all of your stones and crystals, as well as all of your tools (wand, etc, etc…) and let them soak up this divine magickal energy that is a gift to all of us today, during the Solar Eclipse!

Blessed Be…

Anshu Christa Jacobson – Sunshine

Sunshine,…

Yesterday I went to the park to enjoy the day. It was such a beautiful day, so I figured I would make the best of it and figure out a way for me to get things done while enjoying the sunshine.

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”
Dalai Lama

********************

I had quite a few emails so I decided instead of answering them on the internet (because I hate typing) that I would get the camera and go down to the lake and just answer the emails there.

I was a wonderful time, the emails were great too with many compliments and questions about training with the Budo Ryu I sat there and answered the emails for about 45 mins, till my battery ran down. I will get this video up and published on the website so that you all can see it as well!

(I will warn you the wind was really bad, so some sections you might not hear me that well).

I needed to get work done, but still wanted to enjoy nature and the day. Happiness is what we are all looking for. Do what you can do to make yourself happy, at the end of the day, that is all that we have.

Happiness and love helps you see things clearly, Hate and revenge clouds your vision.

It was said that hate is like a double edge blade, as you cast it on the people around you, you are also cutting yourself with it as well.

Remember that Budo is not about being better than anyone else. It is about being better than what you were yesterday, and if you are not in balance, if you are not happy, you cannot help others become happy.

I hope that this helps you today as well as your training.

Take Care, Be Safe &
Good Luck in your Journey of Budo.

Anshu Christa Jacobson – Life is Choice,…

Life is Choice,…

Every option, Every decision, that you make in life, is just like a doorway, You choose which ones you walk through or not, the choice is up to you.

Every Doorway, every intersection has a story, and that story is a crucial part towards the journey that you take; not just as a martial artist, but as a person as well.

You can choose to be anything that you want to be, you can choose to be negative, or positive, it is up to you.

No one that has chosen to be negative, hateful or a victim has ever discovered the secret of the stars, sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit.

You must not,…for any reason,… give up the effort to make yourself a better person, or help those that are around you.

Creativity, focus, perseverance, dedication and determination will give you the inner strength needed to push through the heavy, and what seems non-moveable doorways of life.

I hope that this insight today helps you all in your journey as well as your training in Budo.

Take care, Be safe and Good luck in your journey of Budo.

Anshu Christa Jacobson – Warrior Guardian Deity

Warrior Guardian Deity

There was a militant side to Japanese Buddhism. Many monasteries were fortified and had standing armies. These measures began as protective measures against brigands and marauding armies but over time led to the sects becoming like feudal states, sometimes with large armies controlling entire provinces.

In almost every Buddhist country, the temple gates are guarded by two or more fearsome figures.

There are explanations for this. One understanding is that anyone who tries to enter the temple with a burden of negativity will find him- or herself unable to get past the guardians. Leave it all outside, they say, and enter with a pure heart.

In some countries, like Japan, the figures have a further feature. The Japanese “Ni-O” (“Two Kings”) are depicted one with his mouth open, the other with his mouth closed. A popular interpretation of this is that they are signifying “A” and “Un,” the two sounds which make up the Japanese pronunciation of the “sacred syllable” Om. Better, though, is another idea, based in the concept of duality.

The Two Kings, they say, represent the two aspects of In and Yo (yin and yang in Chinese philosophy). Further, they represent two of Buddhism’s great “evils”: Fear and Desire. Mister “A,” he with the open mouth, is the “IN” receptive, but he is also Desire, opening up for anything he can get. Mister “Un,” then, is the closed-mouthed passive “YO”, but also the one who lives in Fear, shutting out the possibility of any new opportunities.

“IN” is no good without “YO”. And the extremes of Fear and Desire prevent one from living a full life. And so it is only the one who can pass through the Middle, between IN and YO, get past Fear and Desire, who is eligible to seek the Buddha.

Anshu Christa Jacobson – Guardian Lion

Guardians Lion – Protector

Chinese guardian lions, known also as Imperial guardian lions, shishi lions, or stone lions (石獅, Pinyin: Shíshī) in Chinese art and often (incorrectly) called “Foo Dogs” in the West, are a common representation of the lion in pre-modern China. They are believed to have powerful mythic protective powers that has traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, Imperial tombs, government offices, temples, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220).

In Japan: the lion figures are known as Komainu (狛犬・高麗犬, lit Korea dogs) possibly due to their introduction to Japan through Korea.

The lions are always created in pairs, with the male holding the world in his hand and the female with holding a cub. They occur in many types of Chinese pottery and in Western imitations. In the photo above, the lion is a female holding her cub in her left leg.

Anshu Christa Jacobson – Darkness

“Just as the ninja operated in the shadows centuries ago in Japan, a new master of the art again comes from the darkness. Training you has been my greatest accomplishment, and it is clear the student has surpassed her master.”

“Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.”
Sir Terence David John “Terry” Pratchett
(“Terry” Pratchett – English Novelist)

*********************

Art is the desire of a person express them self, to display and share the reactions of their personality to the world.

In this photo I wanted to use the contrast of the room so that people would look at the arts behind me, yet keeping my body / silhouette directly of the middle of the picture, to help with the “IN / YO” of the photograph.

Just as the screen behind me shows the dramatic difference between tiger and dragon, the photo also shows the contrast between light and dark. This in itself is also a major lesson of ninjutsu.

The screen behind me was painted by Kano Tanyu in the edo period (1602-1674) The piece is called Dragon and Waves; Tiger among the Bamboo.

I hope that you all enjoyed today’s lesson.

Anshu Christa Jacobson – What I Seek,…
