Supplements are not Substitutes (Ninjutsu Training)
Ancient Witchcraft Analogy (Ninjutsu Community)
Truth vs Fact (Ninjutsu Study)
Extreme Training for Extreme Results (Martial Arts / Self Defense)

This is a very lengthy video because I felt it was better for me to cover all of the angles of this one subject, rather than just approaching it from one angle. However, with that being said, I did leave out many things as well, and I can discuss those aspects in future videos.
.
To all of my students and supporters, please understand. There is not substitute for training. There is no book that will save your life and no magickal spell or magical pill that will protect you from violence. To protect yourself and the ones that you love, you need to train. Just as Miyamoto Musashi says: “The Way is in Training”.
.
This lesson is directly for the practitioners of the ancient Japanese koryu martial arts of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo) and bujutsu (budo).

In this picture, I am sharing original historical scrolls of the samurai / ninja with my students. I am honored to be in the position to share historical documents and relics, from the feudal era of Japan, to give my students of the Budo Ryu Kai a better understanding of samurai / ninja Warfare. How the ninja / shinobi / samurai would tie Waraji (草鞋; sandals) for combat. This method was to aid in combative movement for the battlefield and or fast escapes for evasion.
I want to personally thank Mr. Richard Van Donk for the review of my new book, Shinobi no Michi. I am truly humbled that he read, enjoyed and reviewed my book. I deeply appreciate his kind words. I am truly honored (bow).

Book Review of
Shinobi no michi Vol 1, Mind by Christa Jacobsen
.
This thick 500 page volume on the Ninjutsu arts is obviously a labor of love for martial artist Anshu Christa Jacobson. Having written several such books myself, I know the kind of dedication and research these endeavors take and I commend her on her efforts — this was not an easy task. She did an excellent job on its presentation and it is sure to be a lasting classic for her Budo Ryu students to whom this work is dedicated and directed.
.
Shinobi no michi Vol 1, Mind is certainly a worthy read for any enthusiast of the Ninjutsu arts. It contains a rather deep documentation on history and school lineages, and is filled with images of old scrolls, kanji, japanese warrior prints and the author in action. The author explains a lot of the Japanese terms used in these arts. I feel that it would have been much more useful to the reader to have a more in-depth table of contents. Practitioners of Budo Ryu will be very entertained to learn more about their teacher and the trials and tribulations of her budo journey. Jacobson takes considerable time and many pages in the form of an interview to explain her uniqueness and warriorship to those who criticize her. For example, she explains why she left the Bujinkan after obtaining her Yondan (4th dan) to found her own system Budo Ryu and still keep the studies of several of the Bujinkan schools in her curriculum.
.
While the book includes lots of excellent photos of her doing things, such as demonstrating how certain things were done historically, or photos of her training in the dojo, if the intent was to make a training manual of her teachings for her students it seems lacking in actual instruction. Readers will need to look to future volumes for direct teachings of her system. Overall however, this is a most comprehensive work that has a lot of heart and soul put into it. A true gift to her students.

I hope that you all enjoy the book. You were the inspiration and the driving force for me to compile such a book. This is the largest book ever written on Authentic Ninjutsu and Samurai Bujutsu in English and I am hopes that you all enjoy it as much as I did writing it for all of you! With deep respect, thank you,…. (bow).

The blade should be 5 Sun (approx 15cm) in length and 9 Bu (approx 2.7cm) in width and should be made with a double edge on both sides.
The handle should be 5 Sun (approx 15cm) and 5 Bu (approx 16.5cm) or 6 Sun (approx 18cm). The end of the handle where the blade is should have a ring clamp of 8 Bu (approx 2.4 cm) and should be 1 Bu (approx 3mm) in thickness. To make the handle the wood from the Japanese evergreen oak; however you can also use the wood from the red cinnamon tree or the wood from the nara oak tree as well. The blade should be “V” shaped and symmetrical.
* Refer to the drawing on the right for the final shape of the kama.
* Hattori Hanzo made a mistake in the beginning of the text, setting the length of the blade at 5 “Bu”. This seems too short for a blade; however the measurements written next to the drawing reads 5 ”Sun” which is more appropriate for this shinobi tool.
* The term that is used in the text to indicate that the kama has a double edge is moroha (両刃). Although Hattori Hanzo uses the term, which translates double-blade or double-edge, it does not mean two sharp edges. To understand this better, one should read this as one sharp edge that is sharpened on both sides. So when you sharpen the blade, sharpen one side of the bottom of the blade, then one side on the top of the blade, this is also to be understood that the sharp edges are on opposite sides of the blade.
* It is noted that even though artistically Hattori Hanzo does not draw the kama with a “V” like image, he does state that the blade should be “V” shaped. This is easily understood when looking at the shinobigama that is displayed in the Iga Ninja museum.
