Witchcraft in Ninjutsu – Wiccca, Magick, Spells, Majutsu, Mahou, Genjutsu

(POINT ONE)

——-
When studying “ninja magick” do not get the areas mixed up:
Genjutsu (幻術; Art of Illusion)
Majutsu (魔術; Art/Technique of Witchcraft)
Mahou (魔法; Principals of Magick/Witchcraft)

(POINT TWO)
——
There are many definitions of the word “pagan” and many people use it a variety of different reasons. I am stating this because I am not getting into petty arguments regarding Buddhism. There are two common definitions for a “pagan”:
(1) The first refers to people who believe in a religion that is not Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. So in that sense, YES, Buddhists are pagan.
(2) The second definition refers to people who practice polytheistic religions (belief in more than one God) such as Wiccans or the ancient Greeks. In this sense, NO, Buddhists are not pagan, because Buddhism is a non-theistic religion (no God), it’s more spiritual/philosophical.

Many people will say that Buddhism is NOT pagan. This is not because of its “age of ritual”, but because pagan refers to the belief & worship in the God / Gods that predate the Abrahamic religions. Buddhists don’t concern themselves about God or Gods. Buddhists concern themselves with the Dharma, which is not a god or gods. It is “truth” or “reality”. This is why many say Buddhism is not pagan, because there is no ritual between themselves and a God or Gods. However, some place Buddhism as pagan simply because of “age of religious ritual”.

For the presentation of this video, I am placing it as “pagan” to help the viewers understand its age, and its relation and commonality within witchcraft / magick.

A Real Master…

Anshu Christa Jacobson

“When things are going the way that you want them to go, it is easy to be calm and happy about your life and portray a positive image. But this is not true test of happiness or character. The true test of happiness and character comes from the moments that you stay calm, maintain a positive spirit and balanced character within the face of danger, adversity and ridicule. If you can maintain your character in these moments, this is the test of happiness and the honest expression of a real master.”

KNOWING THE GOOD & THE BAD
(Soke Anshu Christa Jacobson in Budo Ryu Hombu)

“In times of peace, people do not remember times of war and what it is like and become comfortable, so they feel that there is no need for the shinobi and they no longer carry detailed information about each province nor do they give gifts to each other. On top of this, they do not know who is in which area or who good people are.”

Koka Shinobi no Den Miraiki; 1719
Dictated by Kimura Okunosuke Yasutaka
Written by Chikamatsu Hikonoshin Shigenori

MASTERING THE MARTIAL TRADITIONS

Soke Christa Jacobson

“In an effort to govern the behavior of those who studied her tradition, Fang cautioned her followers to only use their skills in self-defense.  She maintained that great bodily harm, including death, could easily result from excessive force.  Imparting her late father’s wisdom, Fang maintained that without first finding inner peace and harmony, one could never truly master the fighting traditions, and hence never master their own lives.  Master Fang asserted that it is only through discovering and then mastering the world within that the power of positive human force can be developed in harmony with nature and used to defeat any adversary.”

The Way (道)

Soke Christa Jacobson

(Transcription)
“There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But in doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking, this understanding extends to everything.” – Yamamoto Tsunetomo; 1659-1719

(Translation)
If you are going to create art, their will be times that you spill the ink. If you are going to model, there are times that people do not look at the art. If you are going to farm the land, there are times that your crops don’t grow. If you are going to train in samurai bujutsu and authentic ninjutsu; there are times that you are going to be hurt.

If you are trying to find your way, there are times, as you are walking it will rain and you will be wet. You cannot learn without making mistakes, accept it, you are training in warrior arts, keep walking forward and the rain will stop sooner or later, and at that time, you will find your way.

I hope that you understand today’s lesson and can see my interpretation of this wonderful classic text on samurai bujutsu.

Koka Ryu Kempo – Sankei (Three Tools) 甲賀流拳法 – 三 形 – 拳法, 空手

This is some of the video footage from our Koka-ryu Kempo Sankei Workshop 2012

In the training of this event we looked at the Koka-ryu Sankei; which translates out as “three tools” and are three specific weapons used in Kempo, to help train the body. These three weapons are the Kama (sickle), Tanto (knife) and Tonbo (short stick). This is not just for the knowledge and application of the weapon, but to help train the budoka’s taijutsu for better empty hand kempo application as well.

Koka-ryu Kempo is one of the 7 Warrior Traditions of the Budo Ryu; School of the Warrior Way as the training goes in depth within the 7 traditions of the Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo!

The Budo Ryu is dedicated to teaching traditional samurai bujutsu and authentic ninjutsu. To do this the Budo Ryu has 7 Warrior Traditions that it teaches from:

7 WARRIOR TRADITIONS OF THE SCHOOL:
* Koka Ryu Kempo (甲賀流拳法)
* Tenjin Ryū Jujutsu (天神流柔術)
* Tomo Ryu Shinobijutsu (戸猛流忍術)
* Musō Jikiden Eishin-ryū (英信流居合術)
* Koto Ryu Koppojutsu (虎倒流骨法術)
* Gyokko-Ryū Kosshijutsu (玉虎流骨指術)
* Togakure-ryū Ninpo Taijutsu (戸隠流忍法体術)

I hope that you enjoy the video! Thank you all for your support!

“Get over the idea that only children should spend their time in study. Be a student so long as you still have something to learn, and this will mean all your life.” – Henry L. Doherty

I hope that you all enjoy today’s lesson.  I know that it is only a simple quote; but sometimes, that is all that is needed to keep us on a positive track on our journey of Budo.

Capturing True Budo

Soke; Anshu Christa Jacobson

Without knowledge, a high level of warrior skill will never be focused.
Without high level of skill, one may never attain a high level of true strength.
Without true strength, knowledge may not be applied.
Without applied knowledge, one will never find wisdom.
Without wisdom, one will never find the enlightenment of which they seek.

This is a insight towards training that I came up with this morning, not for sure if it makes sense to any of you, but it makes sense to me, I hope that it helps all of you with your training.

Thank you all for your support!

Tenjin Ryu Jujutsu 天神流柔術 — Kumi Uchi, Ne Waza, Keiko, Samurai, Grappling, Ground Fighting

The Budo Ryu held a Tenjin Ryu Jujutsu kuden event in February of 2012. This is some of the training that we went over during that seminar.

The Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo is a school of traditional Japanese fighting arts and has established 22 schools world wide with its headquarters located in Kansas City, Ks.

The B.R.N.D trains in all areas of traditional Japanese bujutsu (old Japanese fighting arts). This includes hand to hand combat, grappling, ground fighting, all traditional weapons of the ninja and samurai, modern weapon applications and tactics, self-defense, self-protection, survival skills as well as mental and emotional conditioning.

* Koto Ryu Koppojutsu (虎倒流骨法術)
* Gyokko-Ryū Kosshijutsu (玉虎流骨指術)
* Togakure-ryū Ninpo Taijutsu (戸隠流忍法体術)

Each of these ancient fighting arts has it own aspect to warfare. SOME of the Skills that a student will train in are: Seishinteki kyōyō (spiritual refinement) Taijutsu (unarmed combat), Kenjutsu (sword techniques), Bōjutsu (stick and staff techniques), Sōjutsu (spear techniques), Naginatajutsu (naginata techniques), Kusarigamajutsu (kusarigama techniques), Shurikenjutsu (throwing weapons techniques), Kayakujutsu (pyrotechnics), Hensōjutsu (disguise and impersonation), Shinobi-iri (stealth and entering methods), Bajutsu (horsemanship), Sui-ren (water training), Bōryaku (tactics), Chōhō (espionage), Intonjutsu (escaping and concealment), Tenmon (meteorology), Chi-mon (geography), Dakentaijutsu (striking body arts), Kosshijutsu (muscle tearing), Kyushojutsu (vital points), Jujutsu (grappling), Koppojutsu (bone breaking), Yonin, Inpo, Tonpo, Shinobi-iri, Ninjutsu (art of stealth).

Bushido (武士道) The Way of the Samurai – Courage (勇)

Anshu Christa Jacobson

Soke; Anshu Christa Jacobson

Photo taken – 2.2012

Anshu Christa Jacobson teaching Hanbojutsu (半棒術) at the Budo Ryu Hombu Dojo

To see just cause and to not act, is lacking in courage.

When one finds oneself in a situation where there is an obvious right and wrong, yet remains silent for fear of loosing face, they prove nothing and show that they lack in the ability to stand up for their own beliefs.  As a warrior one should be ashamed of oneself.

This is not to say that one should go out in search of conflict to show their strength, as this is foolishness as well.  However; if conflict should present itself, one should have the courage, confidence and resolve to make themselves and their righteous beliefs known without fear of loosing something as trivial as public acceptance and stand up for what they believe in and have come to love.

I hope that you all enjoy the lesson.

Take Care, Be Safe and Good Luck in your Journey of Budo.
